動詞agreeの使い方
先日、中級クラスの生徒さんから質問をいただいた内容をシェアします。
Q: agreeは、他動詞、自動詞の両方があるが、I agree your proposal. I agree with your proposal. なぜ前置詞が必要なのか。
初級・中級クラスの方と受験生は、まず主語+agree with + 目的語(賛成する対象物・人)で覚えましょう。自分や身の回りのネタで例文を作り、agree with ~ が自然に出てくるように。
I agree with you. Tom agreed with Anna's idea.
1. agreeは、他動詞と取り違えやすい自動詞で、前置詞を落としやすい動詞です。hope、object、apologize、なども同様です。
We all hope for your success.
I object to her going to the party.
I apologise to him for my rudeness.
He quite agreed with me on that point.
2. agreeは自動詞 + 前置詞で、1つの他動詞のような働きをします。look at、look for、look after、consists of、なども同様です。
I quite agree with you.
Neither of my parents agreed to my marriage.
We agreed on an early start.
3. agreeが他動詞として使われる構文には次のようなものがあります。
+ to 不定詞 We agreed to go to the party.
that節 We agreed that S + V
公式に承認するという意味でagree+目的語の形も取ります。Congress approved the plan by a large majority.

agreeに付く前置詞
agree with somebody/ somehtning (an opinion or statement)
agree on/ about something (a subject)
agree to something (a plan or suggestion)
他の意味
not agree with somebody (of food): to make you feel ill/ sick
agree (with something): to match a word or phrase in NUMBER, GENDER or PERSON
Your story doesn't agree with what the police have told us.

agree somtething: to officially accept a plan, request, etc. [synonims] approve
ビジネス文書
In more formal English, you say it was agreed that when saying what people agreed: It was agreed that the plan B would be implemented.
